Dorstone nestles under the Welsh Hills at the head of the Golden Valley. Above the village on Dorstone Hill stands Arthur's Stone, a great slab, which is reputed to be the entrance to a burial chamber (circa 3000B.C). Theory has it that the God Thor was worshipped at the Stone. More likely is that it originates from the Anglo-Saxon and means "tun" or village of Dorsige's people.
